Locomotive History
No. 6880 “Betton Grange” is a remarkable recreation of a lost GWR class. The original Grange Class was designed by Charles Collett and built between 1936 and 1939 to handle mixed-traffic work on the Great Western Railway. Renowned for their reliability and performance, all 80 original Grange locomotives were sadly scrapped by the end of steam.
Thanks to the vision and dedication of the Betton Grange Society, No. 6880 has been painstakingly built using authentic GWR parts and newly fabricated components, making it the first new Grange to steam in preservation. “Betton Grange” now stands as a tribute to GWR engineering excellence and the passion of modern-day steam preservationists.
Own this breathtaking silhouette of a historic steam revival — a must-have for printing, gifting, or digital display.
