Sharpthorne Steam

The Journey

Welcome to the Sharpthorne Steam website, this is a website that features mainly UK steam railways from across the preserved heritage railway scene, by an enthusiast that has recently turned to photography to capture his experiences and memories.

My name is Ben and I have been a enthusiast of steam since I was in a push chair. The crossing at Sharpthorne (the former West Hoathly station site) was where I watched the trains go past. Fast forward a few decades and I picked up a camera for the first time and started to make a library of my experiences. I was a complete novice to cameras, however, with a lot of research and talking to fellow photographers, I started to gain an understanding of photography and decided to build Sharpthorne Steam.

This website as well as the social media channels are a way for me to pursue my two hobbies together. I now hold a lineside pass at the Bluebell Railway and enjoy the fantastic freedom that photography and enjoying steam heritage brings. I try and tell both angles, the photographic perspective and also the video perspective to cater for all audiences.

Thank you

Ben
