History of GWR 28xx No2807
Built in 1905 at Swindon Works by the Great Western Railway under the direction of renowned engineer George Jackson Churchward, 2807 is one of the oldest surviving examples of the powerful 28XX Class steam freight locomotives. Designed for hauling heavy goods trains across the GWR network, No. 2807 worked tirelessly until its withdrawal in 1963. Saved from Barry Scrapyard in the 1980s, it has since been lovingly restored and now steams regularly on heritage railways across the UK, delighting crowds at her home railway of the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway
