About No. 6880 “Betton Grange”
The Grange class was designed by the Great Western Railway (GWR) in the 1930s as a powerful mixed-traffic locomotive capable of both passenger and freight work. However, the class never was preserved. No. 6880 “Betton Grange” is a remarkable new-build locomotive, completed by dedicated volunteers using authentic GWR components — a true resurrection of a lost design. Today, it proudly runs on the GWSR, bringing the GWR legacy back to life for a new generation.
