A Brief History of No. 2999 “Lady of Legend”

Built as part of the Great Western Railway’s visionary Saint Class, No. 2999 “Lady of Legend” is a faithful recreation of a design first introduced in the early 1900s by legendary engineer George Jackson Churchward. Completed at the Didcot Railway Centre in 2019, she represents a vital link in the evolution of GWR locomotive design—bridging the gap between the elegant Saints and the later, world-famous Halls and Castles.

Her appearances at events such as Giants of Steam have quickly made her a favourite among enthusiasts, embodying both the craftsmanship of the past and the dedication of modern preservation.

Created and dispatched directly by Sharpthorne Steam, this exclusive print celebrates not just a locomotive, but the enduring spirit of steam itself.
