Winter Bulleid

Renamed Rebuilt Bulleid "303 Squadron" steams out of Groombridge on her way back to Tunbridge Wells on a cold January morning on the Spa Valley Railway.

The locomotive was built in 1947 and named "Sir Keith Park" after the Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park commander of 11 Group during the Battle of Britain and the commander of Malta's defences during the battle for Mediterranean supremacy during WWII. The locomotive was sent to Salisbury for its first shed. The loco was rebuilt in 1958. The locomotive remained in British Railways service till 1965, where after it was sent to Barry scrapyard. She remained there till 1984. She would not turn another wheel in anger till 2012. Sir Keith Park was renamed "303 Squadron" in 2024 a name she will retain until September 2025, when she reverts back to Sir Keith Park to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. She currently resides on the Spa Valley Railway, in Kent.
