Recently back from overhaul, W8 Freshwater is seen leaving Havenstreet during the Winter Gala of 2025.

Built in 1877 for the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway. This locomotive headed to the Lyme Regis branch but were replaced by 02 class locos that would become linked with the Isle of Wight network. Freshwater would gain its name when it made its first journey to the Isle of Wight as part of the Freshwater, Yarmouth & Newport Railway. It would remain on the Island until 1949, when it returned to the mainland at Eastleigh. She would remain on the mainland for the rest of her British Railway service life and finish her career on the famous Hayling Island branchline. Freshwater would become a pub sign for a number of years. In 1979 she would make her journey back to the Isle of Wight and by 1981 was hauling trains for the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. At the turn of the century the Isle of Wight Steam Railway commissioned a new boiler for W8. The locomotive would have another 10 year ticket and be removed from service in 2018 before going through her most recent overhaul.
